This is the teardown looking for a sheared Crankshaft key causing a ignition timing problem..None,,however the charging system rotor magnets have let loose on the flywheel...Common problem. So it was still charging ?? The backfiring problem eludes me at the time..But at least I found this before it wipes out the stator.
